Geography:

China is the world’s fourth-largest country and the largest in Asia. It shares its borders with 14 countries and spans five time zones.

Population:

With a population exceeding 1.4 billion, China is the world’s most populous country. It has a diverse linguistic landscape, including Mandarin Chinese and several minority languages.

Economy:

China has transformed its economy from a rigid socialist structure to a partly-capitalist model, becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and a leading exporter.

Political Landscape:

Founded in 1949, the People’s Republic of China is governed by the Communist Party, which maintains a tight grip on political and social life. President Xi Jinping has consolidated power, abolishing the conventional two-term limit for presidents.

Foreign Policy: China is expanding its foreign and defense policies beyond East Asia, becoming a major overseas investor.

Human Rights:

The government has faced criticism for its treatment of minority groups, including the incarceration of Muslim Uyghurs in “re-education camps.”
